"Anecdotage" is word that had little meaning to me until I had started having moments of unsurety about the quality of my vocabulary. It was in an googled article of about forty "uncommon" words to add to your lexicon. It's an amalgamation of two words; anecdote (a short amusing or interesting story about a real incident or person) dotage ( a state or period of old age, especially when accompanied by mental decline). So an "anecdotage" is a person, often advanced in age, who regales stories of their past and is prone to tell numerous tales without provocation. And for the first time in my life, after celebrating 20 years of marriage, having three children and always feeling like the youngest person in the room, I am finally starting to feel old .
